as he captured two state medalist honors With the ability to do just about everything as a hurdler a high jumper and sprinter he shattered the New England record in the -meter hurdles with a blazing time of seconds He finished his indoor career as a two-time New England champion and a seven-time state winner The senior is a member of the Brockton Track Club and trains with the Metro Cobras in his spare time NATE ASSA MARBLEHEAD Known for his abilities as a long distance runner Assa set a meet record at the MIAA Meet of Champions with a mark of in the two mile He later finished with a career best and was named a New England champion The Marblehead senior also finished sixth overall in the New Balance Nationals All-American K event Assa is an avid flyer and owns a pilot license The high honor roll trainee has been flying for seven years and plans on majoring in professional flight EVAN BEDARD PEABODY A Stonehill commit Bedard lit up the scoreboard at the MSTCA Northeast Invitational setting a meet record in the triple jump - feet while placing first overall in the long jump He followed suit with a meet record in the long jump - at the Northeast Conference Championship At the MIAA s Meet of Champions he took first in the long jump setting a meet record at - Bedard the Northeastern Conference s MVP ended his indoor career as a -time state medalist and an eight-time school record holder He is a member of the National Honor Society REESE CONNORS NEWTON NORTH Connors was a catalyst for Newton North this past winter particularly in the sprint races The senior set a state record this year in the -meter dash and finished as an All-State champion Connors was also a critical member of the Tigers relay squad which captured an All-State title The senior races club with the Brawl Stars and will be attending Wesleyan University GRAHAM HEINRICH MARSHFIELD Heinrich propelled Marshfield all season and capped things with a first place finish in the MIAA s Div -meter run The senior was named a state champion Also a member of Marshfield s cross country project Heinrich participates with the school s Future Curative Professionals Club and with its aspirant council He is committed to the University of Pittsburgh where he will continue to race track while running cross country ALEX JACKSON PEABODY Jackson might be remembered as one of the greatest long-throwers in state history after finishing as a New England champion in the shot put He did the same at the state level and also captured a state championship in the weight throw He also participated in both events at New Balance Nationals as an All-American finishing third in shot put sixth in weight throw He has committed to the University of Virginia DANIEL KILLIAN WINCHESTER The senior was selected as the Middlesex League Liberty MVP as he was an All-State champion in the -meter dash seconds He also finished as a runner-up in the at the Div indoor track and field meet Killian is a member of the National and Spanish National Honor Societies He was a recipient of the Outstanding Academics in Mathematics Award at Winchester and received a National Merit Letter of Commendation Killian will continue his track career at Brown SHAMUS LARNARD BC HIGH The senior won the Catholic Conference K showcase He was also a champion in two events during the Div indoor meet winning honors for the mile and two mile competitions To top things off he finished as an All-State champion in the mile Larnard is a high honor roll novice at BC High owning school records in the K and the indoor mile Larnard is committed to the University of Pennsylvania MILES LIPKA ALGONQUIN After missing the majority of the - season with an injury Lipka returned with force this past winter The senior pentathlete was named a Div state champion in the high jump - feet and hurdles seconds both of which turned out to be Algonquin school records He also accumulated a whopping points in the pentathlon setting a Massachusetts record An AP Scholar and a National Merit Commended Scholar Lipka is committed to URI where he will continue to compete in track as a multi-event athlete while studying bioengineering LINCOLN MASSARO ST JOHN S PREP Massaro finished second in the state s pentathlon collecting enough points to set a St John s Prep school record in the process In the National Pentathlon the senior finished ninth overall In the classroom Massaro is on the Head of Schools List at St John s Prep and a member of the National Honor Society He lists skiing soccer hiking and reading as hobbies with an interest in economics DEREK SHIMER SHREWSBURY A senior high jumper Shimer registered an incredible leap just shy of seven feet - the top mark this season in New England The feat also shattered the Shrewsbury indoor record for the event A Mid-Wachusett All-Star Shimer also placed first at the New England Indoor Meet as well as the Meet of Champions while qualifying for this year s New Balance Nationals and Nike Indoor Nationals respectively A two-time Honor Roll aspirant Shimer has committed to UConn where he will continue his track journey BEN TAVARES WESTON Tavares played a vital role in keeping Weston s winning tradition going finishing as a Dual County League champion in the and also as a member of the school s band In the Div meet he aided Weston to victories in the and the sprint medley relay while winning the individually The DCL All-Star later registered a first-place finish at the Meet of Champions in the The senior is committed to Stonehill College BILLERICA RELAY JACOB PECK DHAETHMY DORIVAL BENJAMIN PENA GRYFFIN BORDEAU The quartet of Peck Dorival Pena and Bordeau won the Div State championship in the relay and later added the Meet of Champions title to their resume Bordeau finished as a runner-up during the -meter dash at states setting a school-record time Bordeau is a member of his school s football unit and earned MVC All-Star honors as did the speedy Dorival Peck is an honor roll candidate who also competes on the school s football unit Pena competes on the baseball association and is a a member of the National Honor Society NEWTON NORTH RELAY REESE CONNORS ALEXANDER HOFFMAN GEORGE RUMKIN JUAN TALISAYON The foursome of Connors Hoffman Rumkin and Talisayon rolled to a title in the at the Meet of Champions Hoffman was a Bay State Conference All-Star and will run track at Wesleyan in the fall Talisayon captured the Division title in the meters and is a three-time -relay champion Talisayon will attend Williams College where he will continue to run track Rumkin was a part of a Newton North squad which finished th in the relay at the New Balance Nationals Rumkin also plays soccer at Newton North and enjoys skiing LOWELL RELAY JOVANI UBRI RAYMOND DAFE ALEX RODGERS ABDUL JALLOH The unit of Ubri Dafe Rodgers and Jalloh hit the daily double winning the Division and Meet of Champions in the The Bates-bound Rodgers was an all-MVC performer as he excelled in the -meter run the mile and two mile Rodgers boasts a GPA and is a member of the National Honor Society Dafe was the league s champion in the -meter dash and a
